Usually only buy their pinots but it's always a treat to enjoy their great chards.

Aubert always amazes me. It is buttery, full full bodied, creamy. Why does it amaze me. It's a white wine that can sit for 20 years.

Lemons and nectarine on the nose mixed with the higher alcohol unfolding. Tropical fruits on the palate with a toasted sweetness- kind of like butterscotch and bruised nectarine skin. Salinity shoes up at the end and lingers as the fruits revisit. Very sweet.

Pear and tropical fruits, cut grass, toast, caramel, and lively minerality and acidity. Really nice.

Rarely drink Sonoma Chardonnay (or Pinot for that matter), but Aubert is just undeniably great. Liked this ‘12 over the ‘14 we tried later.

Out of the two Auberts from 2012 I tasted today, this one seemed to be a little 'funkier.' Definitely served colder than the Larry Hyde, this wine seemed to be in a weird place to me. The nose showed some melon characteristics, but also had a hay barn kind of nose (sans nitrogen). Definitely more raucous than the Larry Hyde even on the entry. This note carried to the entry, but then the silky nature of this one took over. The middle of this wine was purly honeydew, melon, mango. Finish was pretty full, good acidity, still showing the power of youth here. 93 for sure, as was the Larry Hyde for different reasons altogether. I cannot say that one of these beat the other, as they were really good in their own rights.

Massive tropical and lemon grass notes give way to honeysuckle and gala apple notes that transitions to a long caramel finish. Beautiful.
