Siclys Nero d'Avola

Wow, really gorgeous 9yo Nero that is elegant, intense, complex and delicious. Dark fruit, cigar box, leather, herbs and earth. Called ~15yo BDX blind. One of my fave wines this year and a steal at $25. Thanks @Alex Spoto for the hookup!

Soul

Leather dipped in cherry juice. Or cherries dipped in leather juice. Either way, very good very soulful.

Very tart, cherry and tobacco flavor

Awesome. Dark cherry fruit and coffee. Yum yum yum

Strong espresso flavor. Like no other wine I’ve tasted before. Enjoyed at Serenade with JBR on our 13th anniversary.

Earthy and rustic. A versatile choice that paired well with our pasta and apps

Nose is very brandy, cherry fruit forward. Very fruity. Acidity very high. Ph 3.5. Flat aftertaste.

Checking in on this after a year—a delicious and substantial expression of nero d that, as @Ian Staub mentioned, is suggestive of Bordeaux. Hot hot sun on the nose. Palate is like french kissing a dank bag of amsterdam shag. Dried twiggy herbs, veering toward medicinal on the finish. Quite a vino!

The bouquet on this wine alone is worth the price of admission..,
