Everything you need to know about this wine is here (including some randoms about the winery dog apparently). Definitely better than the Beckstoffer Las Piedras Cab which basically tasted like a sample right off the crush pad and never developed. Took this one an hour to get going, as it seemed a little thin and metallic for the first while. After allowing to sit, this darker violet-tinged wine had a very nice mature huckleberry and hint of nitrogen and au jus. The middle of this wine gets a bit more robust with some darker chocolate notes but keeping that dark, expressive and even slightly sweeter fruit. The finish has quite a bit of pepper, but also a stiff oak tannin. This wine finishes pretty long. Not sure if I want to sell off the second bottle or keep it around another couple of years. IMO the Hill Family Merlot which is about $30 cheaper outdoes this one easily.
