Some dear friends of ours came over this evening to see our newborn, Austin, for a night of pizza & wine. I popped this nerdy wine so we could get geeky and it sure delivered. Completely new varietals from a region of Italy I’ve never had wine from (to my knowledge), and a region with some pretty colorful history, too.
.
On the nose bright cherry, moist tobacco, wet leather, dusty attic, mint, and some dark chocolate. On the palate very youthful and expressive with lots of bright red fruits and nice acidity, with some earthy undertones to give it some nice complexity.
