Definitely decant this to let its tight little heart open up! Half an hour at least. Plums, ripe wheat, and sea brine on the nose. Ripe plums and underripe cherries on the front. Heavy tannic structure that’s very puckery until it opens up. Gravelly. The finish initially fades a bit, but it comes back strong at the end with flinty high notes that are very satisfying (at least to me). There’s a lot of discord in this wine, but overall it will stand up splendidly to steak or lamb.
Also, I see a bunch of people didn’t rate this as high as I did. I suspect they didn’t let this sucker breathe long enough.
