Andrea Calek
Chatons de garde Vin de Pays de l'Ardèche Syrah
Sales Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant
First Calek for me. Darkly fruity, carbonic, slightly Bretty Syrah. But quite enjoyable in its nakedness.

Notes from Sensus Wine: 25-55 year old Syrah planted in calcareous clay, 21 day skin contact, fermented in 228L Bourgogne barrels of 3rd-15th pass.
Tasting notes: structured and still incredibly fresh. It's Syrah, but it's not too over the top. Tannins and fleshy characteristics are balanced, and the acids on this are overall very buoyant. I was expecting more funk, but this bottle is incredibly clean and very fruit focused.
In all, it's a Calek wine, and every bottle I've had from him is full of personality, vision, and intent.
