André Perret
Saint-Joseph Syrah
Crafted from fully destemmed grapes, the elegant and polished 2020 Saint-Joseph totally delivers. Violets, black cherry, raspberry and discrete cedar usher in. Ripe tannins structure this medium-bodied and concentrated Saint-Joseph that maintains its elegant profile right through to the refined finale. (Nicolas Greinacher, Vinous, March 2024)

Inky, bright-rimmed ruby. Mineral-accented cherry, cassis and peony qualities on the highly perfumed nose, along with a building mineral nuance. Appealingly sweet and focused on the palate, offering juicy dark berry, floral pastille and spicecake flavors that slowly deepen through the midpalate. Shows real energy and spicy lift on the persistent finish, which is given shape by smooth, even tannins. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, April 2020)

A new producer for me. Pure, dense and lovely, surprisingly wide open, totally generous, with great energy, youthful yet no where near ready. Love this vintage for Northern Rhône.

Dec 6th, 2017(fermented in stainless steel tanks and aged for a year in neutral barriques and demi-muids): Brilliant violet color. Intense, spice-accented aromas of cassis, violet and smoky mineral show very good lift and clarity. Offers spicy red and dark berry and floral pastille flavors that show very good focus and depth, along with a floral pastille flourish on the back half. The long floral-tinged finish features slow-building tannins and lingering raspberry and violet character. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, Apr 2017)

Oct 9th, 2017Good acidity, spice, fruit, and length. Time to put some away for a while.

Oct 4th, 2016Creamy smooth - exotically fruity. I agree with previous botrytis comment but it's very harmonious
