André Perret
Les Grisières St. Joseph Syrah
Dense dark crimson in colour. Aromas of blackberry, pepper, and a whiff of charcuterie. On the palate much the same descriptors of blackberry and black pepper, medium plus bodied, finishing with persistent smooth tannins. Not as fruit driven as some top Australian Shiraz but then again should be compared with a top Shiraz from the Grampians district like Mount Langhi Ghiran “Langi “ where I would point the latter slightly higher.- both at a similar price. Tasted 57 weeks later on 4th February 2022 with similar notes - hint of tar. Pretty solid in this warm vintage.
