Alluria – Red Blend / 2022
Vayots Dzor, Armavir – Armenia 🇦🇲

Overview
Estate-grown 60% Haghtanak and 40% Karmrahyut, fermented spontaneously (no commercial yeast) and bottled as a low-intervention expression of Vayots Dzor’s volcanic terroir. Natural, character-driven, and proudly Armenian.

Aromas & Flavors
Black cherry, mulberry, and wild blackberry layered with pomegranate, dried mountain herbs, tobacco leaf, and a stony, volcanic edge; subtle baking spice as it opens.

Mouthfeel
Medium-bodied with lively acidity and firm, rustic tannins that resolve into a long, savory, mineral finish.

Food Pairings
Lamb kebabs or khorovats, roasted eggplant with pomegranate, mushroom pilaf, grilled sausages, or aged Armenian cheeses.

Verdict
A soulful, place-first red that marries ancient technique with estate precision, vivid fruit, volcanic grip, and real depth. Authentic and compelling.

Did You Know?
The Vayots Dzor region hosts the Areni-1 cave, the oldest known winery (c. 4100 BCE). Grapes like Karmrahyut (“red juice”) are indigenous and prized for color and spice; Haghtanak brings dark fruit and structure.

🍷 Personal Pick Highlight
Love the way the mulberry core meets that volcanic snap, pure Armenia in a glass.
