All Saints Estate Marsanne

The next bottle in my Wine Selectors Customised Plan case was this bottle of All Saints Estate 2016 Marsanne.
All Saints Estate is based in Victoria’s Rutherglen wine region. The estate is on the banks of the Murray River in Wahgunyah and was established in 1864! There’s a lot of history behind this little bottle of wine which I would suggest reading about on the All Saints website. Or perhaps head along to the winery for a historic tour!
If you haven’t come across the Marsanne grape, it originally comes from the Rhone Valley in France. However, it is gaining popularity here in Australia. I am a big fan of the Tahbilk Marsanne which is also from Victoria – therefore I was excited to get stuck into this one.
I found the All Saints Marsanne a lemon shade in the glass with a slight lime tinge. On the nose, it has a slight smokiness to it with a hint of minerality and grapefruit zest. It has a very interesting mouthfeel with a slight saltiness to it, alongside juicy fruits and a bit of a syrupy finish. This one really is a journey in the mouth.
