⚡️New Release ⚡️
This 2017 is the latest release of the Alkoomi SSB. When you have SSB and SBS, the first grape in the sequence (so Semillon in the SSB example) makes up the majority of the blend. My preference typically is with the Sem dominant (this one is approximately a 70/30 bend), so this $15 bottle from the WA’s Frankland River was right up my alley!
I teamed this vino up with some kale slaw and peppered salmon - such a delicious match!
In the glass it’s a very pale lemon 🍋 lime colour. Fresh juicy pear 🍐, lemon and a hint of honey blossom come through on the nose. And most importantly, in the mouth it’s über crisp, refreshing and absolutely quaffable. A great seafood wine!
All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy! #sample #tcweekdaywine #tctastingnotes

This 2016 SSB (Semillon & Sauvignon Blanc) is a new release from the team at Alkoomi Wines in the Great Southern. Many thanks to Sandy & Rod for sending this sample up, it was a lovely accompaniment to our wholewheat spaghetti cabonara with mint - the crisp flavours in the wine cut through the pasta and Parmesan to compliment the fresh peas so nicely.
It's a pale yellow in the glass with a slight tinge of rose grey - however the lighting was bad so this could just be my eyes! Fresh passionfruit, pineapple, melon and orange citrus rise from the glass with a nice touch of minerality - it's so vibrant and fruit forward that it made me feel like summer is nearly here! In the mouth it was like biting into an apple - crisp, juicy and so easy drinking it's criminal. For $15 it's a great everyday white wine.

I wanted to like this, since I was pleasantly surprised by their Riesling, but this was one of those fruit bombs that you always see from Australia. If that’s your thing, you’ll probably love it. It’s just not for me.

Jul 31st, 2021Super crisp and a lot of minerality to this number. Semillon shutting down some of those vegetal aromas too. Bit of support from the semillon bringing in some weight and the feintest honeyed aroma. Palate is pithy and tangy. Acid line a little all over the place

Jul 1st, 2016So good. Nose is all grapefruit. Bright, mouth puckering acidity. Grapefruit peel and wet stone with a little bit of extra weight from the Semillon. Awesome wine for an awesome price. Highly recommended.
