Alkoomi
Frankland River Cabernet-Merlot Blend
Weeknights call for red wine & Netflix. We recently cracked into this bottle of Alkoomi 2016 Cabernet Merlot from WA’s Frankland River region.
Quick stats:
* Matured in French oak for 12 months
* Can cellar for 3-5 years
* Only $15 a bottle
On the eye it’s a gorgeous crimson red shade. The nose is full of blackcurrants and black cherries 🍒 with a hint of spearmint chocolate. In the mouth it’s juicy and plush with a nice rounded mouthfeel and a decent length finish.
All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy! #winesample #tcweekdaywine

This is a new release from the wine folk at Alkoomi Wines in Frankland River, Great Southern. 2014 White Label Cabernet Merlot retailing for approximately $15-$20.
It's a sexy garnet colour in my stemless glass with hints of crimson. On the nose black fruit, vanilla and tar come through. I found the nose really opened up with a bit of air. Plump texture in the mouth, nice oomph of flavour and chewy tasty tannins. You're definitely getting bang for your buck with this one. Plus it has a really nice finish. Great accompaniment for cooking & eating spag bol - but be warned it may be all consumed pre-dinner!
