Alkoomi
Charlotte's Frankland River Shiraz
On the weekend we had a blind wine tasting party (see the write up here: http://bit.ly/2IDvPcu) thanks to the team at Cellarmasters. This bottle of 2016 Alkoomi Charlotte’s Shiraz from the Frankland River in WA’s Great Southern Region was one of the blind tasters.
This wine is to celebrate the women in the Alkoomi family. It’s named after Netta Charlotte Lange who together with Victor Lange were the original owners of the Alkoomi grazing property. The property has now been in the family four generations.
In the glass it’s a lovely deep garnet shade. Juicy black cherries, a good sprinkling of spice and light notes of blueberries come through on the nose for me. While in the mouth it’s smooth and fruit forward with apparent tannins and plentiful peppery spice.
All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy! #winesample #tcweekdaywine

But of a surprise, got this in a mixed dozen from an online wine company. Enough fruit to keep it interesting but well and truly balanced tannins. Slightly better than a quaff.
