This Chambourcin from the New Jersey bank of the Delaware River in Warren Hills is a solid Burgundian styled wine. The area is covered with limestone that translates nicely into the vintage. It shows dark rich red colors once poured in the glass. Aromas are robust and aromatic without much aeration. The nose is filled with wild blackberries, dark raspberries, sage, forest mushrooms, damp leafy soil, camp fire, leather, pine tar, sweet tobacco, and toasted vanilla. The decision to use French oak couldn't have been a better one. The wine has earth qualities that reign supreme. The palate has medium acidity, a finessed medium body, and grippy tannins. The finish gives way to grilled lamb and venison characteristics. The complexity is there and keeps everything vibrant and interesting. Chambourcin shows it can be the star and have a solo career. Cheers!

A very pleasant, easy drinking red that pairs well with roast chicken and quinoa. A gift from my home state from my friend Karin.
