Ad Vinum
Sleeping Lady Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
It is time for my #FridayCabernetfix.
Dark ruby in color with a short reddish rim.
Fruity nose of cedar, herbs, tobacco leaf, herbs, black currants, black plums, cooked cherries, spices, vanilla, licorice, cloves, mint, black pepper and light earth.
Full-bodied with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with black currants, black plums, blackberries, cedar, vanilla, spices, espresso, cola, light herbs, earth, chocolates, tobacco leaf and peppercorn.
Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.
This 8 year old Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley is already gorgeous, although still young.
Showing nice complexity with a nice mouthfeel. Spicy and entertaining.
The 2016 was a great vintage, and it is showing. This Single Vineyard cabernet will continue to age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years.
Good right out of the bottle, and better with airtime.
Robert Parker 97 points. Wine Enthusiasts 96 points.
I've had a few vintages of this wine, and it always delivers.
Thank you Barry for sharing this with me.
Good by itself as a sipping wine, and will pair nicely with BBQ Meats. I paired it beef brisket.
100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes were aged in (65% new) French oak barrels for 18 months.
14.7% alcohol by volume
94 points.
$180.

It's time for my #FridayCabernetfix. Here is a great Cabernet Sauvignon.
Inky in color with a short purple rim.
Beautiful nose of black fruits, cedar, vanilla, licorice and chocolates.
Full bodied and elegant with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry and very fruity on the palate with great complexity.
Showing black currants, cooked cherries, blackberries, sweet black plums, cedar, tobacco leaf, light earth, herbs, cola, vanilla, spices, espresso, pencil lead, eucalyptus and peppercorn.
Long finish with round tannins and tangy raspberries.
This gorgeous 6-year-old Cabernet Sauvignon from Yountville is drinking so wonderfully now. Still so young, but already very enjoyable. Showing nice complexity and a great mouthfeel.
Rich, extracted and fruit forward. A fabulous wine.
Wine Advocate 97 points. Wine Enthusiasts 96 points.
This Single Vineyard Cabernet will continue to age nicely in the next 20 years.
Great right out of the bottle, but definitely needs more time in the decanter, which we didn't have, as it finished so quickly. A gorgeous wine by Chris Phelps.
100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes were aged in (70% new) French oak barrels for 17 months.
14.5% alcohol by volume.
95 points.

Drank 3/10/23 with grilled tomahawk steak, despite the young age and quickly decanting it proved to be a master work of Napa Cabernet. Everything you want and now we wait for the others in the cellar.

Needs 4-6 hours at this point.
Vinious 97🤷🏼♂️
I opened this way too early, definitely a 2nd day with a big decant. This is a classically styled cabernet, you wouldn’t open a 2018 Ridge or Heitz, Scarecrow, Dominus etc etc,,,,
My bad
These are two fabulous wines from Chris Phelps. The 2018 in particular is brilliant. When I think of reference-point wines from Sleeping Lady, the Ad Vivum Cabernet is very high up on the list of wines that captures all of the finesse of this site.
