Yolo County Chardonnay
Yolo County, Central Valley, California, USA

Bright gold. Inviting nose and medium full palate of baked quince, dried orange, plantain, and butterscotch. Medium acidity from entry to medium long finish which continues the palate with a dusting of white pepper. A high end feel from a midrange Chardonnay thanks to Yolo County fruit handled by the master, Robert Lloyd. Rich foods like crab cakes or lobster mac and cheese are especially welcome. Drink now through 2025.

Can't say I have had many wines from Yolo County, but I will say that this would be a great example if I were asked to provide an example. Rob Lloyd production (past winemaker for Rombauer) named for the distance from the Winemakers home to the vineyards he's sourcing from. The nose of the wine is pretty enticing - butterscotch candy, caramel, lemon, and dill spice on the nose. The pallet is creamy and slightly buttery, exhibiting notes of baked apples, lemon, pineapple, mango, and a bright finish. It has a good inclusion of acid to make up for the malo. Great chardonnay.. I could drink this more often. It is very reminiscent of Rombauer, but for $20 - if not better.

A little heavy on the acidic side for a Chard, but still a good sipper.
Good presentation on the nose, some smooth vanilla notes hidden between the sharp citrus acidic notes. Pair this with a meal or a snack as it needs a wingman!
