Twenty-Eight Eighty Wines McGah Family Vineyard Grenache 2018, Rutherford, California

Ruby in color with a wide reddish/brick rim.

Fruity nose of blueberries, black plums, black currants, cherries, light cedar, licorice, chocolates, tobacco and light herbs.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with black currants, black plums, cooked cherries, light raisins, dried figs, light cedar, milk chocolates, tobacco, licorice, spices, dark coffee and peppercorn.

Long finish with soft tannins and tangy cherries.

This 8 year old Grenache from Rutherford in Napa Valley is still drinking nicely, but a little past its peak. Showing nice complexity with a soft mouth feel.

Needed 45 minutes to open up in the bottle.

This Single Vineyard Grenache is fully resolved by now. A little hot at this point, and better with a light chill.

Good by itself and better with food.

100% Grenache grapes.

15.3% alcohol by volume.

90 points.

$50.
