Until I tried this wine about 6 years ago, I didn’t think I liked Syrah. With one sip, a whole new world opened up to me. This is a big, bold, badass Syrah! Dark black in the glass, explosive notes of bacon, camphor and blackberry emerge. The entry is liquid velvet and very fruit-forward with blue and black fruit, accompanied by mocha, tobacco, and eucalyptus.
I LOVE this wine and wish they still made it (sadly this was our last bottle - I kind of need to be consoled).
I clearly remember sitting in the Sherwin tasting room when Donna pulled this out and saying to her, oh I don’t like Syrah, and her telling me that I needed to try this one.
I remember my mind being blown...
I remember the bottle we opened later that night at Bistro Jeanty...and every other bottle we’ve opened after that...and as I type this I’m reminded of why and how I became so into wine. It’s about the experience, and the memories, and how a great bottle can bring you right back to those moments.
