The Red Mountain AVA is a sub-appellation in the Yamika Alley AVA, a further sub-appellation of the Columbia Valley AVA. Red Mountain features gravelly, high alkaline, calcium rich soils with the south facing side of the mountain receiving more warmth and sunlight than any other area in the Columbia Valley AVA; it is only natural then that this area specializes in the classics, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, etc. The AVA has produced wine rivaling the best that California has to offer and are typically sourced at a high premium. On the eyes: Deep, concentrated, opaque, black-purplish blood color, med+ stain, med+ tears, no gas/slight floc.
On the nose: Violets, black cherry, brown sugar, light chocolate notes, med+ alcohol.
