Tintara Geology McLaren Vale Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

Introducing the new Tintara Geology range from Hardy's! There's this Cab and a Shiraz that's just recently been released as part of the range. It hails from McLaren Vale in South Australia which is famous for being one of the most geographically diverse wine regions in the world! The vineyards for the Tinatara Geology range are at an altitude of 50-200 metres and are planted on an array of soils including; red brown earths, terra rossa, Rendzina, soft sands and dark cracking clays. Some of these soils are over 600 million years old!

So what's the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon at $20 like you ask?

It's an opaque crimson red on the eye with a highly aromatic nature full of maraschino cherries, black currant leaf, plums and a vanilla oak. In the mouth it's juicy, vibrant, easy drinking and fruit forward.

Alkoomi

Jarrah Western Australia Shiraz 2011

⚡️New Release ⚡️This 2011 'Jarrah' from Alkoomi (Frankland River, Great Southern) is made only in exceptional years when the fruit is on point. The Jarrah is hard to come by as it's made in small quantities and it's also made from Alkoomi's oldest Shiraz vines! It retails for approximately $45, so if you see it - buy it as it's drinking brilliantly now but will develop further over the next 5-10 years.

Gorgeous vibrant garnet colour on the eye. The nose makes me think of peppered steak with rosemary and cranberry on the side - it's fruity, smokey and enticing! In the mouth it's juicy and plump yet subtle and elegant with cherry, plums and red liquorice standing out for me. Truly wonderful!

The Wild Pixie McLaren Vale Shiraz Roussanne 2008

Enjoying #aussiewinemonth! Stewed fruit character. Stewed cherries, raspberries, prunes. Pretty good tannic structure, considering its age. Letting it decant for a bit... — 9 years ago
