The bright acidity of Le Mont Demi-Sec really shows itself in 2020, producing a clean, racy style. There's a welcoming aspect to this wine with its 20 grams of residual sugar, but the flint in this vineyard keeps it strict and provides that taut line. It is super smart, balanced and really joyful now and will continue to provide pleasure for decades. Wait. Or don't. (Rebecca Gibb MW, Vinous, September 2022)

Unlike his Savennières, the fruit for Boudignon's 2020 Anjou Blanc is purchased. The result is a pure, clean wine with delectable purity. There are delicate flavors of just-ripe pineapple, citrus, nettles and a subtle hint of vanilla. It is fermented and aged in both 500-liter barrels and oval Stockinger 'cigars'. A line of acidity pulls this wine through to a refined conclusion. It can be approached now for its fine fruit but will go on. (Rebecca Gibb MW, Vinous, September 2022)

The 2020 Clos du Bourg Demi-Sec is starting to shake off the first days of its infancy but it has a long life ahead. It is akin to a cloud of Chenin, which fills the mouth with pure aromas reminiscent of freshly stewed apples and violets. The texture is finely woven and there’s acid to provide line through its balanced residual sugar. (Rebecca Gibb MW, Vinous, September 2022)

The 2006 Clos du Papillon is made in a relaxed and rounded style with a creamy, silken texture with tarte tatin-like flavors of apple, pastry and honey. Initially the wine was like a teenager, but over time, it has taken on additional complexity. It might not be the most powerful of vintages, but it provides a lot of pleasure and increasing nuance. It's drinking well now and offers savory characters, but thanks to its taut line of acidity, it isn't going anywhere. (Rebecca Gibb MW, Vinous, September 2022)

The 2020 Les Choisilles offers a floral and pear-like aromatic character. It's round and ripe with good grip on the finish, which could be a result of the vintage having had little juice in it; the wines have excellent structure and fruit purity. (Rebecca Gibb MW, Vinous, September 2022)

Bouchet is a north-facing site, so it ripens more slowly than south-facing equivalents. The 2019 is a demi-sec style, so expect a small burst of sweetness on entry (14g/L). But after the sweet entrance, there comes a salt and pepper character to this wine. In addition, there's a spiciness to the ripe apple fruit, and a touch of pastry character from close to a year on lees. The 2019 has a fine, fresh finish with a sense of grip and chalky texture. A friendly, lightly spritzy wine that offers up open fruit and a sense of ease. For those looking for an introduction to the fresh, crisp and steely wines of Savennières, you can't go too wrong here. (Rebecca Gibb MW, Vinous, September 2022)

The 2020 Anjou Blanc à Francois(e) has the purity of mountain air. Hailing from a single parcel named Les Gats, it is a mid-weight style that's not about aromatic appeal but texture. From a clay-based vineyard, this is one of the more weighty, rounded styles that Boudignon produces with a structured frame that clamps the mouth and acidity that pierces the wine's core like an arrow. There's no malo at this estate which somewhat explains its character. (Rebecca Gibb MW, Vinous, September 2022)
