Utterly magnificent.. stunningly good and near perfect. Hits all my buttons and is my favorite wine. Let decant about 90 minutes. Smooth as silk. Bursting fruit mixed beautifully with forest and truffle like earthiness.

Second bottle from this vintage that I have enjoyed but this one I purchased from a local wine shop. Opened very nicely after 2.5 hours and enjoyed over 5 hours. Cherry notes were bursting through but mature and deep. Blended wonderfully with the earthiness. This wine is still a baby and think I will do my best to sit on my remaining 2008s for at least 5 more years.

Opened very slowly. Little sediment and only light staining on the cork. This was without signature for the first 30 minutes. Very slight cherry and tar notes. Pleasant but nothing much evident. After 2 hours of decanting it opened and was more resonant but it never exceeded “generally nice”. Nothing was amiss but nothing zoomed or was special. Finish was not particularly long. Tannins were mellow. Bouquet was modest but somewhat inviting. Color was pale with orange rim. This was an auction purchase.

Intense and delicious barolo. Yes, consuming way to young but a classic in the making. Had this at a friends 50th birthday party so he paired this with the 1968 vintage. Amazing but you coukd tell the wine were cut from the same cloth though 49 years apart. Super fun tasting.
