A "superiore," which denotes at least a year of aging and 12 percent alcohol or more. Bussola, the producer, was taken over by its current winemaker in the 80s from his father. He continues to use older varietals like Corvina Grosso, and to use older techniques, but for the "Ripasso," which is relatively recent in its techniques. Round and very well integrated, having most of the boozy, mentholated, dark fruit characteristics of a great Valipolicella.

A bit over-plush at first; much better balance with 1hr of air. Rich baking spices and earth on the nose. More savory palate. Interesting.

Big and boozy. Dry fruit, tannin, alcohol, and tobacco dominate. Good, and well within style, but didn't work for me today. Would have been better with dessert than the main. Your mileage may vary.

Delicious. Rich and lush on the palate. Was stunned looking at the bottle and realizing this was 15%. Finishes well.
