La Landonne Côte-Rotie Syrah

Insane. Perfect bottle. 1978 First vintage of la Landonne. Great fruit and olives for days.

Corked! Brutal. Quite mildly so, tasting through the pong this had great fruit and was a quite splendid bottle but not right. Bah

The 78 was the groups favorite followed by the 80

Soft, lucious. Rounded intense and deep. Wonderful stuff. So detailed and seductive with animal and brush notes but gloriously supple, ripe and resolved. This is an unbelievably sexy and approachable wine. Surely at its apogee but probably decades ahead.
