Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend

Ripe and intense. Dark red fruit, tobacco, leather. Rustic compared to the 2000 alongside.

A meaty, dark nose. Tobacco, plum, herbs, brooding, sweet and no sign of too much heat. Long and serious. Delicious.

Quite primary fruit still. Plummy dark stuff with a hint of tobacco and a sour cherry note. Relatively simple but nice and savory. Good.

Plums, briars, garrigue, tobacco. This is a lovely, complex wine. Any ripeness has great balance.

Thick and intense. Really good fruit. Well defined and balanced. Dark blue fruit. Great mouthfeel. Graphite and salinity. Really good.

From magnum. Surprised at how well this is drinking and one of my favorite wines from a vintage I hate. No stewed fruit here.

Complex with multiple layers of dark fruit and leather notes.

A wonderful big wine. Now a delicious mix with faded primary and tertiary flavors in one. Cherry, blackberry and ripe cranberry, saddle, herbs. A long finish that reverberates the initial flavors and adds a hint of eucalyptus. A lot going on, but all balanced.

12 years didn't do anything to this wine. For a hot vintage, theres a lot of freshness, with high tannins to balance. Dark and brooding. This wine hasn't even hit the peak yet and will live on for 20 - 30 years.

Silky, soft, vibrant fruit. Absolutely delicious.
