We were chasing the Dujac dragon on this one. A solid bottle but the Dujac was just haunting.

Moments like this make me feel very lucky. The '88 Ruchottes-Chambertin from Roumier is pure class found through perfect maturity. Dried flowers, dusty soil, undergrowth and spice wafted up from the glass along with savory cherry. On the palate it was wonderfully soft with vibrant acidity setting the stage for pure red fruit, hints of mushroom and inner floral tones. It finished with a slight tug of tannin and acid, which only added to an already gripping experience. Gorgeous.

The '99 Ruchottes-Chambertin is still so youthfully tight with crystalline red fruits, crushed stone, hints of forest floor and dried flowers on the nose. Angular textures gave way to amazingly pure fruit and brisk acidity with inner floral tones that lasted throughout the refined and youthful finish. You can only judge this wine on potential, yet I'm very excited to see where it's headed.

Classic Roumier power and depth but still quite balanced. Will be a fun wine down the road.

Fantastic. Still primal but oh what a future this has.

I got the sloppy seconds as rep dropped of the remains that have been open for a day. It's really sexy and voluptuous. A touch on the flamboyant side. Nice underlying fine grained graphite / mineral notes. A tad high in the alcohol. Label says 13.5.
