Good Times, Bad Times Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

I resent giving AB his extraordinary price premium but these berries do sing…

This is an extraordinary Cabernet from the To Kalon vineyard in Napa. Interestingly enough, it drinks like a Bordeaux wine. Not big, bold and fruity but rather reserved and earthy. You wouldn’t assume this came from Napa. After an hour and a half in the decanter it is really showing well. It would seem like an old world producer brought some of his techniques to the new world. Amazing example of To Kalon.

Monthly 4th Friday is post Thanksgiving this year, so lots of Thanksgiving style wines!

Powerful To Kalon. Inky and rich. Blackberry, cassis, violets, and grilled raspberries on the nose. Palate is large! Very fruit forward with the fresh squeezed juice notes. Like a Bevan, but not as polished or smooth. Can’t decide if this needs time or this is as good as it will get...

Rich and pure. Black currant, French pressed coffee, strained black fruits and cut cedar fill the mouth. Firm tannins that are still strong and offer a interlude to a gripping finish that is some what short lived.

Very young. Took a couple hours in the decanter to open up. Should be great in 10 years

Oh yeah! This puppy never ever disappoints. Fantastic fruit from To Kalon and just delicious. Still has a lot ofnyears left.

Awesome wine. As it opened up the tannins just got softer and rounder and the wine got more and more beautiful.

I am a fan of the World’s End family of wines and I enjoyed this one. A little chewy and dense but nice flavors.
