The 2021 Rosso di Montalcino opens with rose petals, dried cherries and autumnal spices. It flows across the palate with a tactile blend of red wild berry and minerals, taking on a saline tinge. This finishes long and staining, leaving a coating of fine tannins, promising positive evolution. $25.00 (Eric Guido, Vinous, January 2024) — 10 months ago

Decanted three hours before service. The 2013 pours, a deep garnet color with a near opaque, core medium+ viscosity with very light staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of dark cherry, leather, tomato leaf, black tea, cocoa, dry dusty earth and old wood. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose, the wine has a medium+ finish. The last five years has been very kind to the 2013 Voliero. Drink now with a long decant and through 2033 with ease. — a month ago
