Caleta Santa Cruz Mountains Syrah 2019

Tar, leather, green underripe stem, black olive, sour cherry, VA, black and white pepper, tart red cherry and blackberry. Elevated acidity, med clay-textured tannins, medium body. Medium finish. Medium+ concentration (can’t quite see through) hazy bright ruby. 22.9 Brix, 0.1 g/L RS, 5.5 g/L TA, PH 3.7. 2.43 tons of Syrah hand harvested and sorted on the chilly mourning of November 2nd. 75% whole cluster on wild yeasts. Five day cold soak then gentle pressing for 21 days. Aged in used French puncheons and barriques on lees without any SO2 until bottled unfiltered. — 2 years ago

Very nice and smooth. Doesn’t have as high of salinity and lemon as your traditional Santorini Assyrtiko - this one is from Syros. Slight hints of stone fruits. — 5 years ago
