This is one of Morrisons The Best range an Alvarinho from Portugal and I'm really enjoying drinking this one alone. It's got a strong aftertaste, which is what I prefer to those light acidic wines, I would happily recommend others try it especially if you're on your own cos why not! Notwithstanding you'll get the whole bottle to yourself, another bonus. — 4 years ago

What a terrific white Rioja this is! Bottled by Morrisons and produced by Baron de Ley, though I strongly suspect this is the ‘Tres Viñas’ Reserva that they themselves bottle.
Aromas of nectarine, honey, caramel and vanilla. There is an element of petrichor / wet gravel on the palate that adds a refreshing quality. Medium acidity. Very full bodied, but not rich - has a strong minerality. Incredibly well balanced and long. — 6 years ago
Delicious with Cod with nduja and orzo with Rhonda and Mike at home. Mike brought it, purchased from Morrisons. — a year ago

A little mystery behind this twelve year-old English sparkling bottled by supermarket Morrisons, produced by ‘Rolling Green Hills Ltd’ who are believed to be Nyetimber. So, for £20, how does this wine made by the UK’s best stand up?
Pretty darn well.
The nose is a dead ringer for Champagne, not that that should be its goal, but I would definitely pin this as such rather than English had I tasted blind. Quite rounded on the nose, with plentiful aromas of toasted brioche, yellow apple, pear and burnt butter. The palate is open and generous, fat and buttery, and it glides through to a satisfying finish with great balance.
I have to say, this is incredibly impressive stuff given the context. Highly recommended!
