My first Canadian wine ever! A red wine from Nova Scotia of all places. And it was surprisingly good. It had a Pinot Noir or perhaps Pinotage character. Medium bodied, good acidity, dark earthy allspice under-notes. It was a blend of three grape varieties that have been developed in the north east and adapted to their local climate: Lucie Kuhlmann, Castel, and Marquette. Cold hardy, early maturing varieties. Some of these varieties have Pinot noir in their heritage and one of them, Castle, has the Cinsault (Hermitage) in its crossings. — 2 years ago
