Fantastic sappier rendition of Trousseau that really impresses with its light body; pepper, lots of powdered dry green stemminess on the nose. Stemminess, fresh fruit and tannin that carries you along like a feather. Really like this. The somm at Meson do Campo in Villalba lit up with joy when I picked it off his list. "This is the single greatest red on my list that I recommend". What's great is leveraging this in a heavy meal with a buttery steak, and finding respite from the inevitable heaviness. So refreshing to taste a wine from Spain that's light bodied and free of oak--even if certain Mencia growers in Ribeira Sacra and some Penedès reds do it reasonably often. — 8 years ago
