Les Classiques Authentic Meunier Blanc de Noirs Brut Champagne Pinot Meunier

This wine is unusual for being 100% Pinot Meunier, the underrated third grape of classic Champagne blends. On its own and in the hands of a skilled vigneron, this grape shines. This wine is bright pale lemon yellow with a rose gold tinge. On the nose there is a warm lemon chiffon character that is absolutely beguiling. The wine is creamy with appealing acidity and vibrancy. Long on the palate it is crisp and beautiful accompaniment to seafood and today chicken. It has the breadth on the palate to stand up to grilled food as well. Simply delicious. — 9 years ago

Domaine Dujac

Morey St. Denis Œil De Perdrix Pinot Noir 2007

Fruity, ripe cherry and raspberry undertones. Drinking perfectly. Not bad for a wine from a master vigneron wedged between the more celebrated G-C and C-M! — 9 years ago

Champagne Carte Noire Meunier

100% Pinot Meunier from a small grower in Vallée de la Marne. Gold yellow colour. Bold, fruity and characterful. Crême brûlée and cling peach on the nose. Very distinctive on palate with strong brûlée and cling peach. Rounded with some good complexity. Low acidity with a substantial body. Short finish. Mind blowing value for such a characterful champagne. Delicious. — 8 years ago

Marc Hébrart

Cuvée de Réserve Brut 1er Cru Champagne Blend

Marc Hebrart Cuvée de Réserve Premier Cru Brut Champagne à Mareuil-sur-Ay | Dégorgé le 04 janvier 2013 | 12% | Terry Theise says the fruit of Mareuil Pinot Noir is unlike any he knows in Champagne: “firmer and less malty than Aÿ, altogether less chunky than Bouzy, not unlike Verzy but richer, far more comme il faut than the savage power of Verzenay, less softly perfumey than Ambonnay, less smoky than Cumières. Indeed if it were Burgundy, Mareuil could well be Morey-St.-Denis.” Which might be why I love this so –and for its swooning scent of rye dough and bright Mirabelle plum which speaks of the fruity pumpernickel of the Vallée de la Marne within Champagne –even though it doesn’t have any Pinot Meunier –chalky, tangy with apple skin tannins and a chirping texture and fragrantly flavored finish, this is LOVELY! — 11 years ago
