Smokey and rich. Plums and blackberries. Very nice but not quite as good as I was expecting. No reason to hold any longer. — 2 years ago

Purrington Rued Vineyard Chardonnay 2019

Shay A
9.3

@Delectable Wine : This is the Purrington Rued vineyard Chardonnay. I didn’t see it in the database.

One of the wines I opened for my annual WWC hosting.

The first release of this vineyard from Addax. My experience with Purrington Rued has mainly been with Rivers Marie and Chateau Boswell. The clone is known for being extremely floral and slightly tropical…the floral notes dominated here. As the wines were poured blind for guests, a few noted it smelled of viogner but tasted like Sonoma Chardonnay, which I agree with. Honeysuckle, chamomile, white peach and small hints of baking spices aromatically. On the palate, it sported a medium bodied profile with some sweet lemon cream, more honeysuckle, and tropical fruits (not overly ripe though). Very pretty.

Not delicate, but certainly a somewhat restrained style for Russell Bevan, and one I really enjoyed.

Sun Chase Vineyard Pinot Noir 2016

Everything from this winery is excellent. This was a darker Pinot, well balanced, paired great with a mediterrean meal. — 2 years ago

Aubert

Ritchie Vineyard Chardonnay 2015

15’ Aubert Ritchie. Best Ritchie I’ve enjoyed from Mark to date? 🤷🏻‍♂️ Medium + bodied. Beautifully balanced Chardonnay. White peach, splash of pineapple core, apricot, white toast, sprinkle in a bit of floral spices. 3 favorites from this vineyard are Château Boswell- Arista- Aubert. The nose is more sexy and draws you in. Spectacular floral fruits. Rich, ripe, lush; Blackberries, dark cherries & creamy black raspberries. Black licorice, vanilla, dark chocolate, caramel, hints of dark spice, black fruit tea, limestone, sandy dry soils, sweet tarry notes, suede leather, fresh tobacco with fresh, dark red and blue florals.

The body is ripe and juicy. Medium soft delicate wet clayish tannins. Beautiful length and balance. Soft tension. Rich, ripe, lush; Blackberries, dark cherries & creamy black raspberries. Black licorice, vanilla, dark chocolate, caramel, hints of dark spice, black fruit tea, limestone, sandy dry soils, sweet tarry notes, suede leather, fresh tobacco with fresh, dark red and blue florals. The acidity is brilliant as is elegantly rich, juicy and well balanced finish.

Photos of, Chateau Boswell, caves that shown in their natural state...without texturing and show the soil structure of their Estate, tasting area with library selections and hillside vines in full bloom.
