Big aLICe Brewing Co.

Long Way Home

Got a nice natural quality. Light and subtle and cool that it comes from Keuka lake and treated in the manner, but falls a bit flat for me. The brewery itself, Big Alice Brewing, out in Industry City in Sunset Park, Brooklyn is pretty awesome tho. Love havin a beer on the lawn right outside on a pretty day, a midday affair. This bottle is cool for its novelty, but wish for a bit more complexity. — 2 years ago

HopBot IPA

A twist of many hop varieties, a good beer, worth a good long sip. — 9 years ago

Smog City Brewing Co.

Groundwork Coffee Porter

Creamy, roasty, toasty coffee. More a treat than a beer. Not as sweet as expected though. — 10 years ago

Gift from the land of warm winters! I had never heard of it before. Is it Cali-only?

Ohhhh. "Smog City", LA. It makes so much sense now. Thanks too. I'd tell you about what a shitshow it is, but... I know you know exactly what I mean.

A real favorite! Creamy, smooth, and bubbly. If you're on the Lake City FL area pay Halpatter Brewing Co a visit, they are great people who make great beer! 🍻 — 5 years ago

Such balance, perfection and freshness right in my backyard. I am pinching myself- so lucky! Alisha makes low alcohol, real ale in Redwood City and I can drop by for a pint whenever I want! — 8 years ago

I wish I wish I liked beer. I've managed to turn my taste buds on scotch and gin but as for beer..,well I'll try this if I see it just to try but I've yet to find a beer to turn me! That's a bad side of me though not a disparagement to beer. I sincerely am hoping I'll find my way with it at some point. The closest I can enjoy (I can "handle" more) is, say, a Sour.

@Ellen Clifford I think it is a good thing we don't like it all! I have a big blind spot for sake myself, and I know they can be top class drinks... It is not my thing. Same for low acid, aromatic whites... Single vineyard Condrieu is up there with the best in wine, but I just don't like it. The only advantage to loving beer is that it is cheap and available!!!!

@Gary Westby interesting to hear your wine dislikes--the high quality stuff I can't get into that I feel I "should" are dessert wines...I know Sauternes is supposed to be the epitome of deliciousness but I can do without it. I do like saké though!

Santa Fe Brewing Company

7K IPA

My first introduction to Santa Fe Brewing was a couple years ago on the West Bank (Harvey, not Hebron) by the best homebrewer I know. I had never experienced a Black IPA, and it was an eye-opener. Since that experience, I’ve come to understand that Santa Fe Brewing Co. is not only the first craft brewery in New Mexico, they’re also the state’s oldest brewery, and in fact, they’re now even the largest brewer in state.
The 7K IPA started as a seasonal beer, but was recently added to Santa Fe’s year-round repertoire, and deservedly so. The name references the elevation of Santa Fe (the city and the brewery). It is, indeed, an elevated, modern-styled, West Coast influenced, IPA. Enormously aromatic, with hoppy pine and citrus peel, followed by a juicy and tart white grapefruit. The mouthfeel is extraordinarily smooth, especially when you consider the abv is 7.0%

Royal Jamaican Alcoholic Ginger Beer

Wow! To date the best ginger beer that I've had. Spicy, smooth, not too sweet, and best of all it has alcohol in it! Definitely one to try if you're a fan of ginger beers or Moscow mules. — 9 years ago
