Not sure if this is the correct domaine because it says Pierre and Claire Chapuis, not Maurice and Anne-Marie. Love the deeply sappy cherry fruit and loamy, limestoney earthiness on the nose. On the palate, the ripe fruit is almost overwhelming. But there is substantial stony minerality behind it. The tannins are there, but they’re buried under the tsunami of fruit. Tightens up a little at the end of the finish. This wine is on the hedonistic end of the spectrum for sure. Acids a tad low and not a ton of complexity, but lots of bang for the Burgundian buck. — 11 days ago
@Doug Powers - I’m at the age where I’m becoming increasingly aware of that human mortality actually applies to me. So I’ve decided to pull more of the wines in the cellar that I’d earmarked for weekend gatherings for every night weekday dinners. F_ck it.
@Tom Casagrande@Doug Powers Totally agree with these sentiments. As I work through my cellar I’m finding I’m coming across more expensive longer lasting wines that are ready to drink and running low on mid week quaffers. The trend has become drinking higher end wines more frequently which is no bad thing. My wife and I are going to India for 3 weeks so not posting as much for a while.
