So good. Old school mountain cab. Seamless. — 9 years ago
Quite powerful fruit and acidity. Aged well, lots of sediment required decanting. Some funk on the first night, gone on the second. Good, but not as good as the Paso Robles Syrah of previous years.
Winemaker's comment: Deep & dark. Classic Syrah bouquet w/ bright, spicy flavors. Rich & complex, fine finish. Unfined/unfiltered. Bottled May 2004. — 9 years ago
Decided to open the most aged bottle in the house this weekend, and it was remarkable. The old Napa at its finest, bold yet light footed, still fresh, balanced with well integrated tannins and noticeable acidity. This wine complemented a grass fed ribeye steak with potato gratin exceptionally well.
Winemaker’s Comment: 100% York Creek Vnyd. Cab. Sauv. Complex, spicy, varietal bouquet with hints of currants. Fine balance and finish, unfined and unfiltered. Bottled July 1982 [sic]. — 7 years ago
Interesting one from the 70s... seemed over the hill at first, but with some air it came back to life. Would have been great if it had a bit more fruit left.
Winemaker's Comment: 79% Cabernet Sauv. from Tepusquet; 17% Petite Sirah and 4% Merlot from Ventana Vineyards. Full, rich flavors & color. Unfined. Bottled March 1982. D.D.A. — 9 years ago
A sentimental fave, visited several times. When the Ahlgrens, Val & Dexter, were retiring they sent me the sale prospectus. Dream on! I hope they are with us and well. The wine? Excellent as always, great example of Santa Cruz Mnts cab. — 9 years ago
A testament to terroir, and sadly the end of an era. — 8 years ago
Great Porto alternative. Why so much hate. This is great. — 9 years ago

Holding up surprisingly well. Autumnal to be sure, with notes of spicy black licorice / licorice root, coffee, black pepper, camphor and mint. Black fruit with extended air. I miss this label very much. — 2 years ago
