Valpolicella Ripasso

Romano Dal Forno

Valpolicella Superiore Corvina Blend 2013

2013: Classic Vallpolicella, a “half Amarone” ripasso. Dense, inky, mouth-coating, full-bodied without too much sweetness and with some barnyard funk. I only wish it had a bit more grip: was more enjoyable early on when the tannins were more evident. Could be a function of the good-but-not-great vintage, but I slightly prefer Quintarelli for this kind of pocket change ($95, VR). — 7 days ago

Collezione di Famiglia Valpolicella Corvina Blend 2016

Tinazzi, collezione di famiglia, valpolicella

Almond, cherry, blackberry. This is nice, fresh, young and inviting. The palate is very well balanced. Nice acid drive and and a super soft mouthfeel like silk. A big bright cherry is dancing all along until a tiny drying effect in the rear, powering a long and nice finish with cherry, a tiny bitter note and that slightly drying effect. This could be the best valpolicella simple version I've had so far but it's probably the most matured I've had and the tannins are now well integrated making it a delicious wine. Great effort!

Fasoli Gino

La Corte del Pozzo Valpolicella Ripasso Corvina Blend

Very full in body, with fruit forward flavor. You can taste the layers evolve from spices and plums with a velvet mouth feel to a slightly cherry finish. Absolutely phenomenal! — a day ago

This Valpolicella Ripasso had plenty of fruit backed with nice acidity. We didn’t visit this winery but I will definitely seek out their wines

Monte Lodoletta Amarone della Valpolicella Corvina Blend 2015

The best Amarone I have ever had! Blend of Corvina, Rondinella, Oseleta and Croatina. Dark ruby color with a hint of red around the rim. Lovely aromas of black fruit, violets, baking spices, and cocoa. Full pallet of dried fig, black plums, black tea, and herbs. Earth and mineral notes on the very long finish. Creamy texture. Tannins are a bit chewy but not over top. Everything about this wine is totally in harmony and no one flavor dominates. Unbelievable! Thank you for sharing this one Kasey and Petey! — a day ago

Excellent tasting at Tommaso Bussola. I’m rating the tasting in general. Incredible wines from a winery in expansion! The Riserva 2011 was sublime!

La Casetta Ripasso Valpolicella Classico Superiore Corvina Blend

Fruit forward, yet not too jammy. Notes of leather and tobacco, with strawberry potpourri. Nose is quite accurate. Lovely in Venice. — 10 days ago

Monte Dall'Ora

San Giorgio Alto Valpolicella Classico Superiore Corvina Blend

N: smashed strawberries, tobacco, licorice, mascarello cherries, dirt,
P: Nice tannic grip, Black cherries, lots of earth, a buoyant frame, definitely concrete and old fourdes. I’m so glad to have found this. As Louis/Dressner says, if you know all the grapes they grow, you’re probably a master of wine.

Valpolicella Ripasso Corvina Blend

Deep burgundy color. No brick. Enjoyed over three nights Surprisingly bright fruit and quaffable for an Amarone. Delicious wine that’s still youthful. Enjoy now or hold a couple years — a month ago
