My first Priorat ever! Ripe black fruits, spice and floral notes. Dark chocolate, smoked wood and forest floor on the nose and palate. Is it wrong to say it’s like a Spanish Chateauneuf du Pape? This is a great wine and wish I had more than one bottle! — 6 days ago
September 14, 2021. TTW Spanish tasting 2017 purchase. Deep ruby color. Tart cherries, earthy, with a floral note. With a bit of grip to the tannins. Yummy — 4 days ago
Good everyday wine. Sour cherry fruit notes dominate the start, but then some nice acidity and balanced violet and a hint of leather. Fresh and approachable now. Pairs nicely with it’s a variety of foods and I like the value. — 17 days ago
Bocins Blanc Selecció Especial 2020
Grenache Blanc + Viognier
30% fermented in new French barrels.
Fresh white peach, white pear, white flowers, a touch of Mediterranean herbs, a whiff of freshly baked bread.
On the palate this has quite some weight but also retains a lot of freshness. White stone fruit, a bit of peach pith, a hint of almost bitterness and pleasant greenness.
Underneath - a core of slatey minerality with a saline edge. Almost a tannic mouthfeel.
A bit rough around the edges which adds interest.
Good balance, tension, some depth.
A brilliant food (fish!) wine. — a day ago
Lunch at Smoix in Ciutadella, Menorca, with Ian for anniversary holiday. Lovely wine, not too dry, some minerality to it. Apparently they make a good red wine too! Would definitely buy again. — 9 days ago
What a wonderful Priorat wine estate is Mas d’en Gil. Not only the red Priorat’s are superb, so is this Coma Alta white. Made of 100% Garnatxa Blanca (Grenache Blanc) and from a great vintage. The Coma Alta is not as complex as it’s bigger brother Coma Blanca, but offer lots of nuances still, in terms of ripe white fruit, a bit of wood and vanilla, and a bit of spice. Great length! — 21 days ago
