For sentimental reasons I give this a 10. But it truly was above a 9--we had the 1998 and it was decanted at the table and perfect the first glass. It lost its fruit quickly, with the second glass showing much more of the smoke, leather, earthiness (which I like). I would drink this now, it's likely the best it will be!

Really like this, though not what is expect from Syrah, exactly--a little soft for me, do like the lovey fruit and moderate oak (too much is such a bummer) but this isn't a big meaty wine if you like a Rhone are looking for that. — 9 years ago
