Absolutely beautiful Ripasso and vintage from Tezza. IMO this is as good as it gets in this price class for a Ripasso. The follow up 2014 vintage is ok but no where near this 2011 one ( didn't try the in b/ws). It's been quite a while since my last post but I felt it's time to resume and what better occasion than sharing this one. :-) I had multiple bottles of this vintage over the years, I believe starting in 2014 and then every 6 to 12 months another bottle. So I've seen it evolving. It still has lots of the dark fruit it initially had maybe mixed in with some riper red fruit but now there is more leather and a some tertiary aromas. Very smooth and well integrated tannins. It still has a good acidy but now also first signs of an oxidative yet pleasant character. Long finish. Beautiful with steak or, of course, any hearty Italian dish. :-) — 8 years ago
Verdil (70%) from Valencia with some Viognier and Sauvignon Blanc. Partly barrel fermented. Verdil is an indigenous variety from Valencia. This particular wine comes from one of the new generation of winemakers from the region who tries to resurrect some of the indigenous varieties. Medium+ to full body. Medium- acidity, medium alc (12%) and very aromatic. Quite interesting and a nice alternative to a full body Chardonnay or oaked Verdejo. — 10 years ago
Premier Grand Cru from the upper Mosel in Luxembourg. 2009 vintage.
Citrus, stone fruit, white peach, some floral notes, glycerin, coating your mouth.
Very nice.

If I didn't know, I would say it's from Burgundy. Tastes like a classic Pinot Noir. Mid body, red fruit, nice acidity. Hendry is a passionate wine maker in the South of Napa, bordering on Sonoma. A must visit when in Napa. Sign up for his tasting class. — 10 years ago

Nice, easy to drink light-medium body wine. Typical Southern Rhone blend ( Grenache, Syrah, Carignan) it is earthy and not too fruity - it could use a little bit more fruit. It seems unfiltered and maybe there is already a hint of developing bret. In a year from now likely to have noticeable bret, aka horse sh*t - which if you like it can be very pleasant as long as it is not yet too developed. Great summer wine, good with meat or by itself. Drink it now. — 7 years ago
