Tezza
Ripasso Valpolicella Superiore Corvina Blend
Absolutely beautiful Ripasso and vintage from Tezza. IMO this is as good as it gets in this price class for a Ripasso. The follow up 2014 vintage is ok but no where near this 2011 one ( didn't try the in b/ws). It's been quite a while since my last post but I felt it's time to resume and what better occasion than sharing this one. :-) I had multiple bottles of this vintage over the years, I believe starting in 2014 and then every 6 to 12 months another bottle. So I've seen it evolving. It still has lots of the dark fruit it initially had maybe mixed in with some riper red fruit but now there is more leather and a some tertiary aromas. Very smooth and well integrated tannins. It still has a good acidy but now also first signs of an oxidative yet pleasant character. Long finish. Beautiful with steak or, of course, any hearty Italian dish. :-)
