Liberace’s had this 3 years ago
Either past peak or in a dumb spot. Kept hinting that it would evolve into something amazing and expressive but it never happened. Checked in for a few hours per day over four days. Stayed steadily in a library books, leather, kalamata, balsamic spot. Dusty tannins with floral hints kept me thinking something better was coming but it never happened. — 9 months ago
Nose: sweet peach, overripe cantaloupe, vanilla. Palate: pineapple custard, caramel. Moderate complexity, good intensity, good finish if a bit hot. Excellent pairing with butter, maple syrup, rosemary roasted chicken. — 9 months ago
Nose: biscuits and crème, honey, vanilla. Palate: honey, peach, apricot, salty biscuit. Good complexity and intensity, moderate finish. Transitioning to tertiary notes. More expressive day two. Tarte au citron. — 9 months ago
Nose: salinity, flint, lemongrass, green apple. Palate: lemon curd, lemongrass, key lime, crushed stone, saline. Very good complexity, intensity and finish. 7 years in the bottle and still lots of zippy acidity and freshness. Less food friendly than my other favorite chardonnays. — 9 months ago
Liberace’s Bathtub
Beautiful 20 year old Oregon Pinot. Opened, re-corked, then enjoyed an hour later over the next 6 hours. Slightly clunky at first but expressed good integration after the first hour. Evolved gradually and subtly. Dried strawberries gave way to raspberry preserves and then sour cherry. Medicinal and sage notes gave way to lavender and rose then cigar/cigar box then smoky bacon and finally black tea. No real awkward phases. Likely drinking at or near peak now. — 8 months ago
