Very sundued but solid Bordeaux. Worth the $16 for sure, but not the most exciting in that range I've ever had. The finish is surprisingly resilient, and it's balanced, so don't think I'm complaining. I'd prefer it more tannic though. — 11 years ago

Balanced, refreshing dry wine that has the fruit characteristics of a nearby sangiovese, but without the dust. The light oak flavors match the fruit. You hardly notice them. Dark red fruits dominate Drom start to finish, but it's quite dry. Tanins balanced and medium. — 11 years ago

This is a beautiful $12 wine. It's medium -bodied, you can just detect the fruit and spice of a Chianti, but it doesn't falter in the end. Oak is there, tannins are there, albiet not prominent, and it can pair so easily with anything from BBQ sauce to pasta. — 11 years ago
It has the earthiness and subdued fruit I enjoy in Italian grapes. The barbera is way overpowered by the other grapes, but it's still a very pleasant and versatile blend. Think of a smooth sangiovese. What makes it South African in taste? The chalky mouthfeel woth charcoal notes. Fig comes to mind. The finish has some alcohol to it, but not terrible.
