Zulal
Vayots Dzor Areni
A very pretty color of ruby, with a wide reddish rim and medium plus intensity.
Fruity nose with cherries, plums, black currants, spices, light earth and herbs.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity and pretty legs.
Dry on the palate with blueberries, sweet cherries, earth, spices, light oak, light vegetables, herbs and peppercorn.
Medium finish with soft tannins and tangy raspberries.
This is a nice red from Armenia, with a soft mouthfeel and nice balance. Easy drinking and fruit forward, with a touch of earth notes. Spicy and interesting. Rich and elegant.
Good right out of the bottle and good by itself. Feels like Côtes du Rhône red.
I paired it with cheeses and light appetizers.
13% alcohol by volume.
89 points.
$33.

Mar 19th, 2024The 2018 Zulal Areni is a testament to the purity of Armenia's indigenous grapes. With a bouquet of red cherries, plums, and a hint of pepper, it offers an aromatic experience. Its medium body is balanced by a refreshing acidity, revealing concentrated flavors of cranberries and spices on the palate. Paired with a mushroom-based chicken pot pie, the wine's vibrant notes complemented the dish phenomenally. 9 captures the delightful experience this wine offers. Would definitely revisit.

Nov 5th, 2023Extremely palatable - Possessing a not-too-overbearing darkness, it would go best with food but can well be sipped on its own
