Zorzal
Eggo Franco Cabernet Franc
This is an easy drinking Cabernet Franc from Mendoza. Showing red and black fruits with earth, vegetables, spices, tobacco leaf, bell pepper and spices.
Medium plus in body with medium plus acidity and nice legs.
Medium minus on the finish with firm tannins (after an hour of airtime).
Nicely balanced with a nice mouthfeel.
Good by itself or with food. Would pair nicely with lamb dishes.
13.5% alcohol by volume.

2 days to open but comes good: tobacco, mineraly fruit, leaves a source on the tongue. Got it in Argentina, probably paid too much

Apr 15th, 2023A nice cab franc. It took a couple of days to open up, but by tonight it was drinking rather well. Medium-plus in body, with flavors of dark fruit, earth, spice, bell pepper, and herbs. Aged in concrete eggs (amphora). 100% Cabernet Franc. 9/3/22.

May 22nd, 2021Great cab franc from Uco, if you are into that style. Fruity (no oak whatsoever), but certainly not sweet or syrupy. Fairly acidic, and with a distinct mineral taste, like chalk or graphite. Lighter bodied than a cab sauvignon or a malbec (lighter colors, etc.) But still a powerful wine.

Oct 7th, 2018The best Cabernet Franc I've had to date. Great nose with a red fruit driven taste. Lively acidity and a supple texture. Well done!

May 15th, 2016Boy has Argentina been on point with their wines the last few years. And this wine, this wonderfully fragrant, pure, fresh example of Cabernet Franc is just dynamite! Raised in concrete eggs with no oak whatsoever, the wine is vivid, mineral and amazingly well balanced, coming in at a mere 13.8% ABV. The Michelini brothers are really tearing it up over there and hopefully they continue to experiment and push boundaries, as they are definitely at the top of the conversation when it comes to innovative and forward-thinking winemakers in Argentina.
