Zenaida Cellars
Syrah

This estate Syrah always delivers. Ripe dark fruit core with peppery and meaty notes. Full and rich but not heavy. Silky candied tannins.

Ripe blueberry and blackberry, black pepper, light fresh herbs and hint of cured meat. Rich palate but nimble enough with balancing acidity. Lightly candied smooth tannins lead to lingering spicy finish.
Quite consistent through the vintages I’ve tasted, and this is the best yet. Will acquire more.

Ripe berry fruits - black and blueberry, raspberry - and dark roasted coffee, light black pepper, and hint of violet on the nose. The palate, while dense, is more about texture than richness, with lovely acidity. Soft round tannins.
Smooth, well balanced, and delicious.

A ripe black fruit core hides behind a pretty floral scent opening, then the nose slowly reveals blackberry, thyme, smoked meat, black tea, and light black pepper. Supple and smooth on the palate with a sweet undertone. Wish for a brighter acidity, but the lightly minty taste make it feel fresh still. Lingering sweet and spicy finish.
Zenaida is another small winery in Paso Robles that I like very much, so much so that I join their wine club, the one and only wine club I joined.

The 2017 vintage is much better than the last two. First impression has that Aussie Shiraz notes: coffee cream, vanilla laced dark fruits. Some acidity on the palate but isn’t overwhelming. More unexpectedly complex floral notes show up after few minutes in the glass.
