Zema Estate
Family Selection Cabernet Sauvignon
Clear deep garnet, constant thick slightly pigmented tears.
Clean, almost pronounced, developing nose. Black fruits, sour black cherry and currant, prune and kirsch, hints of eucalyptus, cloves, white pepper and juniper.
Palate is off- dry, medium (+) acidity, medium (+) fine-grained tannins bursting after further oxygenation. Medium (+) alcohol, medium body, pronounced intensity of flavours confirming nose analysis, black fruits, partly cooked, herbal notes of mint, black olive, cloves and juniper. Hazelnut, dark cocoa, leather and earth.
Toast and oak flavours well integrated, especially after secondary oxygenation, hints of game, cedar.
Long lively finish.
Acidity balances optimally oak ageing and high alcohol, well integrating the flavours.
Harmonious, but could achieve more from reduction.
Very good Coonawarra style, pleasure to drink but has great potential for ageing. Only concern would be a partial loss of tannins to balance fruits.
Value for money, at only less than 40 A$.
