Mar 10th, 2018The chocolate in this one is actually fairly subtle, and is more prominent in the nose than on the palate. Mild bitterness in the opening, with a smooth middle that is not quite as heavy in body as other stouts. The chocolate starts to build in the middle and really catches up in the finish. The aftertaste balances between hints of chocolate and the breadiness of good stout. A nice, understated choice, though not quite the strongest chocolate stout I've had.

Didn't have as strong of a chocolate taste as I'd expect out of a double. But it sure did make the ham taste great when we poured it into the pan and baked it. Easter was delicious.
