Weingut Wöhrwag
Mineral Trocken Riesling
The potential of Wuerttemberg is much bigger than the part the 7th edition of The World Atlas of Wine dedicates to the south German wine region with its capital Stuttgart where this firm, straight and vibrant dry Riesling comes from (from Untertuerkheim Herzogenberg to be more precise). Wöhrwag is a top producer of the region and if there is another German wine region that produces similar racy and mineral structured wines it is Franken (around the city of Wuerzburg) mainly due to similar soils such as Muschelkalk and Keuper. In fact there is no similarity to the wines from Baden here, although the mentioned Atlas makes Wuerttemberg to an appendix of the better known wine region next door.
